Monthly Review

May Review

Hello everyone,

Welcome to another monthly review. Today we will be reviewing the month of May. And all I can say is what a month! Towards the end, I didn’t even know if I was going to make it. I was scared that I had to pull some money from my savings. I will get into that later.

First, let’s start with my income. I May my income looked like this:

Salary + Travel allowance: € 2.214,83

Holiday pay: € 1.270,68

Dividends: €6,47

Total: € 3.491,98

It is so nice to receive almost €3.500. I wish this was my regular monthly income. As you can see, I received my Holiday pay, which I am going to use for a girls trip that my friends and I are planning. Am really happy with the dividends that I received this month. Usually, I didn’t receive a lot of dividends in the second month of the quarter. I hope that I will receive €7 in August, which is my birthday month.

Check out my YouTube video to see how much  I got paid for each stock:

Now let’s take a look at my emergency fund:

As you can see in the diagram above, my emergency fund is almost fully funded. I only have one more payment to go, which I will make on June first. I am so happy that this journey is almost over and I can close this chapter. I will definitely make a post about how I am feeling, so stay tuned for that!

Now let’s take a look at my spending:

Don’t let my savings rate fool you. As mentioned before, I received my holiday pay, which went to my savings. The truth is that I overspend on groceries and on “unexpected costs”.

I have to say that May is an expensive month for me anyway, because of mothers day and my boyfriend’s birthday. In my sinking fund, I only have money for presents for my parents so far, because I am not putting a lot of money into that fund. This will change in the future. So my boyfriend’s presents came from my “unexpected costs” budget. I also had some bills to pay, which I didn’t expect this early. Lately, I have been overspending on my groceries budget, because I am buying food for at home and also food for at my boyfriend’s place. I noticed that when I am at my boyfriend’s place, we buy snacks like we are having a party. We created that habit because before my boyfriend got this place, we didn’t use to see each other every week. So when we saw each other we bought a lot of snacks and delicious food to celebrate us being together I guess. Now we don’t have to do that. We can chill lol. I am trying to lose some weight anyway, so I am going to try my best to not buy those unhealthy snacks.

Like I said in the beginning. I didn’t know if my money was going to make it until the end of the month. On the 29th I only had €20 left. I had to buy food with that money and I had to pay for transportation to work. For some reason, some colleagues were facing some problems while working from home. So on Tuesday the 31st they were the only ones allowed to work at the office, which meant that I didn’t have to spend money on transportation. I used the money to buy some groceries. In the end, I was left with €6, which went to my savings for my driving lessons.

I hope that I will do better in June. In June I will be going on vacation for a week. During that week I will be spending the money that I saved for the trip. So I hope that I can save some extra money at the end of June.

This is it for today. Thank you for your precious time and until next time!

Love,

Color and Coins
