Traveling

My vacation budget

Hello everyone!

Welcome back to my blog. I hope you all are doing well. Today I want to talk to you about my vacation budget. I was really excited about finally traveling again, but unfortunately, there are some insecurities due to the pandemic. So there is a chance that we end up not going on vacation, which is really scary. It really sucks because the days before your trip are supposed to be exciting.

At this point, we are still allowed to travel. I am going to manifest it: we will be going on vacation. We are leaving on Friday the 23rd. Check out my Instagram if want to know if we actually going on vacation.

Of course, you are wondering where I am going. I am not going to let you wait any longer. My friend and I are going to Spain! We are going to Barcelona. I really love this city. I have been there once with my high school and I promised myself that I would go back one day. I can’t wait to finally go back.

Even though I am really excited about this trip, I don’t want to spend all my money irresponsibly.  I decided to make a budget for our vacation. I already had saved €2.000 for my vacation, but my goal is to spend approximately €1.200 on this whole trip. I don’t know if I will reach that goal, but I will at least try.

In the table below you can see my budget.

Expected
Clothes€ 50,00
Hair€ 100,00
Self-care€ 50,00
Hotel€ 300,00
Airline tickets€ 300,00
Groceries€ 25,00
Eating out€ 150,00
Activities€ 20,00
Transport during vacay€ 35,00
Transport from and to the airport€ 45,00
Souvenirs€ 40,00
Covid test€ 150,00
Total€ 1.265,00

I really hope that I can stick to this budget. I am a little scared that I will be overspending on eating out, but we will see how that goes.

  1. I will only be traveling by hand luggage.

In this way, I don’t have to pay for checked baggage. Most of my summer clothes are really light so I will not have to worry about weight.

  1. We will be buying bottled water, drinks, and snacks from the supermarket.

We will be bringing those with us when we are going places in case we are hungry. We won’t have to buy snacks or drinks from random stores that will sell them for probably more expensive.

  1. During our vacation, I am not going to do a lot of shopping

I use to have a bad habit of shopping a lot. Sometimes I would even shop at stores we have in The Netherlands. This time I don’t want to do that. I might buy a cute summer dress from a local store and a t-shirt for my boyfriend. I will probably also buy a magnet for the fridge. I used to buy little monuments from places I have been to, but to be honest I don’t even know where most of them are. So I also won’t be doing that anymore. At the end of the day, it’s the memories that matter the most.

  1. Finally, we will try to use public transport as little as possible.

Our hotel is located in a great place. The beach for example is within walking distance. I also feel more connected with the country when I walk through the streets and touch the grounds with my feet. I don’t know if it’s only me.

After my vacation, I will come back and let you know whether or not I stuck to my budget. I am leaving in a few days, I want to say that I am excited, but I am really nervous.

Before I close out this post, I want to remind you guys that you don’t have to go on a vacation to have a nice summer. You can stay home and still have fun. I have never been on a family vacation myself and I am 24 years old. My family and I still had amazing times here in The Netherland.

Check out my post where I talk about our summer as a low-income family, if you haven’t already. In that post, I share what we used to do during the summer.

This is all I have for today. Thank you all for your precious time, and until next time.

Love,
